Founder and Director
Kim is the founder of James Samaritan, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides for the unmet needs of children coming into the foster care system, and helps to transition those aging out of the system. She mobilizes communities on their behalf. Starting in Los Angeles out of the trunk of her car in 2010, she launched James Storehouse Inc. in response to learning the great need of this invisible population. Feeling the call to return home to Louisiana, she left the California organization in good hands and started James Storehouse Louisiana in 2015. In 2019 she changed the name to James Samaritan due to the ever-changing imprint in the community and mobilizing partners to better serve the foster community.
Since returning to Louisiana, Kim’s impact has been recognized through several awards:
In 2017 Kim Bigler was nominated and received the Angel Awards presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of Louisiana. The Angel Award honors everyday people doing extraordinary good to meet the physical, emotional, creative or spiritual needs of Louisiana’s kids. There are thousands of children without access to the support they need to thrive. James Samaritan is an entity that provides these needs to the foster children in the five parishes of the DCFS Covington Region.
The Louisiana Institute of Children and Families encourages and supports members of the Louisiana Legislature to nominate individuals or organizations from their legislative districts who are making an extraordinary difference in the lives of children through adoption and foster care. In October 2018 Kim Bigler received their Angel and Adoption Award for her dedication to foster children in the community.
At the Together We Can Conference in November 2018, Kim Bigler received the Linda Christmas Award for her long term, passionate and energetic commitment to the community. The award recognized Kim for:
-her understanding and commitment to the “creating a village concept;
-her demonstrated leadership, taking risks to achieve outstanding results and contributing to a positive image for children and families;
-her serving as a role model in the community by demonstrating initiative in heightening community awareness of the issues facing abused and neglected children.
Karl Zollinger is a native of New Orleans who has lived on the Northshore for over 30 years. His business career includes 30 years in the banking industry plus 13 years providing consulting services in the areas of debt placement, federal and state tax incentives programs and real estate development. As a banker, Mr. Zollinger held various management positions in commercial and real estate lending as well as business banking. He is a director of the publicly-traded companies Biloxi Marsh Lands Corp (www.biloximarshlandscorp.com), Lake Eugenie Land & Development, Inc. and Terre Aux Boeufs Lands Company, Inc. He is also a co-founder of 4D Products and Services, LLC (a certified Native American Small Business) which provides consulting in the Native American Community. Mr. Zollinger is a former board member of the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute (NORLI), St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, West St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity (Treasurer), St. Tammany West Leadership Foundation, Louisiana Children’s Museum (Secretary), Goodwill Industries, Volunteers of America National Housing Corporation and its affiliates and the Northshore Housing Initiative, Inc. (President).
Mr. Cook is a Commercial Sales & Leasing Executive for Stirling Properties and serves as the President of The Realtor Land Institute’s Louisiana Chapter. He is a Mandeville High School graduate and received his Bachelorette and Master of Science from Louisiana Tech. He is a strong local advocate for the special needs community as the Program Director for the iCAN Sports League and a Board Member for Special Olympics LA. He also serves as an active Board Member for James Samaritan and the Youth Service Bureau that champion foster and youth services.
David has 30 years of insurance, IT, and executive level business experience. He began his professional career after graduating from LSU and becoming a full-time EMT-Intermediate Paramedic at East Jefferson General Hospital. He then joined the insurance services firm his father started, assuming information technology roles in the growing company. As a former software developer, systems engineer, manager, division president, CTO, CIO, and now Sr. VP for a tech company in Texas, David has worked at the senior executive level of a large, multi-national company (more than 5,000 employees). David is enrolled in Leadership St. Tammany currently. His past volunteer efforts have been on local and state-wide election campaigns, helping 2016 flood recovery and victims, past president of the SELU CS/IT Advisory board, Education Travel and Culture (edutrav.org) and the Visiting Pet Program. He and his wife reside in Covington, have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren.
Pam is a Managing Partner of New Orleans Equity Partners, a Real Estate Development Firm located in St. Tammany Parish, since 2009. Her career began in sales, and then she started her own business in the St. Tammany area 30 years ago. After 17 years she became a Principal at NOEP where she is responsible for operations and management of the investment portfolio. She is also responsible for acquisition of new assets. The company’s holdings include commercial and residential real estate, land, mineral rights, and oil and gas wells. Ms. Abide brings a wealth of service and retail experience to the table and has been instrumental in building the company’s operations and systems. Pam is an active Board Member for James Samaritan.
Sharon is a Managing Partner of New Orleans Equity Partners, a Real Estate Development Firm, since 2009. Her career spans more than 25 years in Quality Control Management, Procurement, Business Ownership, and Entrepreneurship. Sharon is currently a principal at New Orleans Equity Partners which specializes in developing and implementing commercial Real Estate development projects. She was the Co Founder of Another Broken Egg of America Franchise Business, which started in 2001 and continues today to be a very successful Restaurant Franchise Business. She sold her interest in 2011 to focus primarily in the Real Estate Environment. She also has extensive experience in Quality Control Management and Import/Export product management in the Pharmaceutical manufacturing Industry. Sharon has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University. Sharon is an active Board member for James Samaritan.
